The artist loved all animals. She particularly loved wild animals and often chose them as subjects. She said that giraffes appeared peaceful to her, and thus expressed those thoughts in this painting completed in 1989.

Castle Rock

The artist was enchanted by the Oregon coast. She and her husband traveled in the region of Castle Rock. She sketched and photographed. Later in her studio she painted her vision of this beautiful rock rising from the sea.

The Lemon

In her home in Southern California, the artist’s husband planted a lemon tree for her because she loved to make fresh lemonade. Lemons were important to her, so she honored them with this painting.

The Sea Moves

the artist loved the sea. she made many visits to the california coast, sketching and photographing. this painting includes a three dimensional rendering of waves crashing in a pool on the rocky coast which she captured in one of her photographs.

While living in northern california, the artist loved to travel to napa valley sketching. One of her favorite places to sketch was the Christian Brothers Winery. after sketching, she returned to her studio and painted this image seeking to capture the light and feeling of being there.

The artist could see yuccas in bloom from the deck outside her studio. It pleased her to sit and sketch them in all seasons. She loved seeing the landscape as geometric forms juxtaposed against one another.  She called that using her imagination to “break free of reality.”
